Meditations For You
check out what I have to offer on YouTube
a deep breath pulls us right into ourselves right into our body right into this moment
a gentle close of the eyes pulls us right into ourselves right into our body right into this moment
To close the eyes, to take a deep breath are just a couple of the tools that bring us back to the current moment when we stray away however these tools aren’t meditation. They are simply tools to help us practice meditation. So what is meditation?
Meditation = a practice of devotion to existence
All that exists is now; Therefore meditation is a way of being with life, with existence, with yourself. It is a devotion to now.
I also like to describe meditation as a practice of death, a practice of deep concentration that allows us the ability to let go of the deep grip we tend to have on the physical world and the deep grip we tend to have on the future and the past and slip into our current experience, honoring existence which holds both life and death.
I would like to note there are endless ways to talk about what the practice of meditation is, the point is to experience your own relationship with it
for me personally I have landed on meditation being a devotion to both life and death and or exsistence
My Journey with meditation
Meditation found me at a time where it felt my only way of being was dwelling in the grief of my past or spinning into paranoid worry of the future. I had intense anxiety attacks and depression that lasted months. That time feels like a blur but at some point I felt my soul calling me back to myself and somewhere along the lines I started a daily meditation practice. As I practiced meditation the tools that I spoke about above were helping tremendously. However what helped me evolve the most was the teachings I was learning through the practice. I would hear things like “I am not the body, I am not my thoughts” and I would sit with this teaching for example and I would question it. Once I decided if I believed in the thing I was learning it would unlock a new mindset and a new way of being with myself and with the world around me. For me meditation was a key that unlocked a door. Behind that door was another part of me ready to declutter what I thought I knew and dive into the uncomfortable and unknown parts of my existence, creating a new sense of self and a new belief system and still i’m unlocking new doors through meditation practice five years later.
In the first year of my practice I got yoga teacher certified and in my third year I got reiki certified so here I am continuing my study and now offering my own guided meditations for you. My hope is to cultivate and create these guided meditations for you to explore and for you to unlock your own relationship with the practice of meditation and the practice of self.
